Introduction to Health Informatics

Level: Grad & Undergrad

Goal: By the end of the course, students will be able to describe and apply sociotechnical interventions that improve health and well being.

Technical Expertise Expectations: We assume students with varying levels of technical expertise will take the class. Students will work in interdisciplinary teams for larger projects.

Learning Objectives:

Students who complete the course should be able to:

  • Discuss past, ongoing, and emerging research in health informatics.

  • Summarize health informatics research conducted at Indiana University.

  • Give examples of the skills and practices necessary to collaborate with medical researchers.

  • Recognize intra-, inter-, and transdisciplinary research.

  • Design and evaluate health related assistive and performance support applications
