About

Dr. Kay Connelly is a Provost Professor in the Department of Informatics and the Associate Dean for Research in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University. She is a founding member of the Proactive Health Informatics group.

Dr. Connelly’s research focuses on pervasive and mobile computing technologies to empower both the ill and the healthy to manage and improve their own health and make healthy choices. Technologies of interest include smart homes, novel displays of everyday information, wearable devices and mobile applications. Dr. Connelly has a particular interest in helping low socio-economic status populations and how to ensure technology meets their needs.

Dr. Connelly has published over 90 peer-reviewed conference and journal papers, and 5 book chapters. She has been PI or Co-PI on over $5M in research grants from the NSF and NIH. She  has directed centers and internal university initiatives worth over $17M. Dr. Connelly received her MS (1999) and PhD (2003) in Computer Science from the University of Illinois – Champaign/Urbana. She received her BS in Computer Science and Mathematics from Indiana University-Bloomington (1995).
